Meet Julie
I am an Associate Clinical Social Worker currently providing individual therapy in person and through telehealth. I enjoy working with adolescents and adults through a cognitive behavioral lens and collaborating with clients to create a path forward. I am passionate about helping people manage mood, adjustment, and work/life balance. As a practicing attorney for 17 years and a mother of multiples, I have experienced some of the challenges life changes can bring and their impact on everyday life. My work with clients is deeply important to me and gives me purpose every day. I pride myself on creating connections with clients and empowering them to use their own strengths, resilience, and knowledge to promote growth and healing.
Education and Experience
I graduated from University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies and a minor in Applied Developmental Psychology. I subsequently completed a Juris Doctorate at Loyola Law School where I was an articles editor of the Loyola Law Review. Following my JD, I earned a Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California.
I have trained in community health, school and private practice settings during my professional career including an internship at the UCLA Department of Psychology Infant Development Program accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children where I observed child development and assisted in hands-on care of young children. During this time, I received individual mentorship from early childhood development professionals which strengthened my understanding of infant development and parent-child interaction. As a practicing attorney for 17 years, I obtained real life experience helping clients navigate various types of legal challenges. During that time I also worked to balance parenting and my career- I am a mother of three children, including twins. Most recently, I worked at 1736 Family Crisis Center, a community based mental health organization, where I addressed client needs through a variety of practices including case conceptualization, engagement and administration of psychosocial assessments, utilizing strengths based, solution focused, problem solving and motivational interviewing techniques. I also ran weekly psychoeducation groups on topics including parenting and empowerment. In addition, I worked with Portal Support, an interdisciplinary team collaborating to create a program to enhance access to mental health care for families in the perinatal period. The program focused on assisting clients with brief triage, assessment, health navigation and psychoeducation.
