Meet Gabriel

I work with adults and couples navigating anxiety, emotional reactivity, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and questions of identity and meaning. My clinical experience includes working with adults, young people, couples, and families as well as facilitating men’s groups. This work has included anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, relationship conflict, PTSD and family dynamics.

Years of teaching literature, philosophy, and critical thinking have deeply attuned me to life’s fundamental questions—and continuously inform how I draw on numerous therapeutic and philosophical traditions. For our one-on-one work together, we might examine comprehensive approaches to identity, meaning, and personal development–from Stoicism, virtue theory, and existentialism to Jungian shadow work–or explore attachment, relationship patterns, and parts work informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS), all to cultivate greater self-understanding.

With couples, I draw particularly from the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to understand recurring conflict, strengthen communication, and help partners express the feelings and needs beneath their reactions.

One of my anchors is “insight informs action; action deepens insight”. Accordingly, both individual and couples work includes developing practices for everyday life: whether breathwork, mindfulness protocols, trigger mapping, non-violent communication, EMDR or just building emotional intelligence and practicing more effective ways to respond under stress.

Outside of work, I’m a husband and father of four, musician, and a former college athlete. A native Californian, I’ve lived in the beach communities of Los Angeles for over 20 years and cherish the active and outdoor lifestyle the South Bay affords. When I’m not at one of my kids’ sporting or theater events, you’ll find me hitting the beach, triathlon training, pining for the Sierras (I love backpacking and skiing), or performing with my classic rock cover band. Family life, creative work, and athletics have all shaped my journey and continue to inform my approach to therapy and coaching. Whether you are building a business, pursuing creative work, competing in athletics, or feeling overwhelmed by the frenetic pace of contemporary life, I am no stranger to the weight of these pressures firsthand and can give you tools to navigate the chaos, clarify your focus, and achieve your goals.

Education and Experience

I hold master’s degrees in Marriage and Family Therapy as well as Philosophy. My background in education includes teaching literature, philosophy, critical thinking, and outdoor leadership at both the high school and university levels. Outside of education, I’ve founded a social impact e- commerce business and led real estate investment and development projects in Los Angeles. I’ve worn many hats across different chapters of my life, and that breadth of experience helps me empathize with and relate to clients facing intense pressures, emotional exhaustion and questions of direction.
