ASSOCIATE PROFESSIONAL CLINICAL COUNSELOR

I am an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor offering both in-person and virtual counseling to clients from diverse backgrounds and life experiences.

Meet Priya

I am an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor offering both in-person and virtual counseling to clients from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, and couples as they navigate life’s challenges, such as depression, anxiety, addiction, insomnia, relationship struggles, and major life transitions. I believe the foundation of effective counseling begins with creating a safe, supportive space where we can build a collaborative relationship.

Together, we work toward your goals at a pace and in a way that feels right for you. My approach is grounded in a humanistic perspective that includes the belief that every person has the capacity for growth and change. I integrate a variety of therapeutic methods, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, strength-based, narrative therapy, existential and solution-focused strategies, to provide care tailored to each client’s unique needs.

Education & Experience

I grew up on the East Coast in an immigrant family and went on to graduate with honors from Columbia University in New York City with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. I later earned my Doctorate in Physical Therapy, graduating with high honors from the State University of New York, Upstate Medical University in Syracuse. While working as a physical therapist, I often saw how physical injuries could deeply affect emotional and mental well-being, which inspired me to pursue a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adams State University in Colorado.

Having grown up navigating multiple cultural spaces, I understand the challenges of identity and belonging. As a wife and mother of two, I also relate to the realities of balancing relationships, parenting, and career transitions. Over the years, my family and I have moved frequently to support my husband’s career, giving me firsthand insight into the difficulty and growth that can come with starting over and building community in new places. These experiences help me connect authentically with clients from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences.

For the past 13 years, I have worked as an orthopedic and sports physical therapist, helping athletes of all ages recover from injuries and return to the activities they love. I personally understand the connection between physical and emotional health, having navigated multiple surgeries during my own athletic career. I am a former Division I lacrosse player, a triathlete, a certified yoga instructor, and bring over 20 years of coaching experience from youth through high school varsity levels. These experiences fuel my passion for supporting athletes facing mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, identity struggles, and the complex emotions that can accompany injury and return to competition.

Above all, I strive to create a compassionate, empathetic environment where you feel heard, supported, and encouraged to make meaningful changes in your life.
